1. Primary category
This is the most important setting. Choose the category that best describes your main activity, not a broad one. Then add useful secondary categories for related services.
2. Address and service area
Check that the address is exact. If you travel to customers, define a service area instead of showing an address that does not welcome visitors.

Get an estimate3. Opening hours, including exceptions
Enter precise hours and update holidays and vacations. A customer who arrives at a closed door rarely leaves a good review.
4. Phone number
Add the number that is really answered, in a clear international format. If you have a main and a secondary number, list the most useful first.
5. Website and useful links
Link to your website and, if possible, to a booking or ordering page. Pick the page that matches the search: the local page or booking page rather than a generic homepage.
6. Business description
Write a clear description of what you do, who it is for and what makes you different, within the 750-character limit. Avoid vague promises and keyword repetition.
7. Services and products
List your services or dishes with a short description and, if possible, a price indication. The more precise the profile, the better visitors know what to expect.
8. Attributes
Tick the options that apply: outdoor seating, accessibility, Wi-Fi, contactless payment, reservations, delivery. They answer very concrete searches.
9. Photos
Add a logo, a cover photo and images of the outside, inside, team and products. Upload new photos regularly: recent, honest images avoid unpleasant surprises.
10. Posts and review replies
Publish news, offers or events, and reply to every review. This activity shows that the business is active and attentive.
Mistakes to avoid
- Adding keywords to the business name, which goes against Google’s rules
- Leaving wrong information online
- Creating several profiles for the same place
- Using generic or misleading photos
A monthly routine
Spend fifteen minutes each month to check hours, post a photo or an update and reply to reviews. Also look at the profile statistics: calls, direction requests and website clicks.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to verify my profile?
Yes. Verification, which can happen by mail, phone or video depending on the case, protects the profile and unlocks all features.
Can I remove a fake review?
You can report it to Google if it breaks the rules. You cannot remove a negative review simply because you dislike it.
How many photos do I need?
There is no magic number. Aim for varied, sharp photos that you refresh regularly.
