A visitor who waits too long closes the page. Here are the five basics we check on every site we deliver.
1. Lightweight images
Images are the first cause of slowness. Use modern formats such as WebP and sizes suited to the screen: a 5 MB photo does not belong on a home page.
2. Good hosting and caching
Decent hosting and a caching system avoid rebuilding every page on every visit. It is often the easiest win.
3. A polished mobile display
Most visitors arrive from a phone. Test your pages on a real device: readable text, easy-to-tap buttons, no pop-up in the way.
4. Few unnecessary scripts
Every plugin, widget and tracking tool adds weight. Keep what really serves your goal.
5. A clear message above the fold
Speed is not enough: within seconds the visitor must understand what you do, for whom, and what to do next.
